Richard Smallwood, the Grammy-nominated gospel singer, composer, and pianist whose music helped define contemporary gospel, has passed away at the age of 77. Smallwood died on December 30, 2025 , from complications related to kidney failure at a care facility in Maryland, his representatives confirmed.
